65 million $ raised by Apple’s PRODUCT(RED) iPods line against AIDS

Since their introduction in 2006, the iPod (PRODUCT) RED line has been a resounding success. This version of Apple’s MP3 player is aimed at funding research against AIDS. Today, the U2 lead singer, Bono, founder of the fund raising program announced at the CGI 2013 that the RED iPods helped raising $65 million to research programs and the overall fight against AIDS.

Today the range of Apple PRODUCT (RED) consists of:

  • iPod Nano
  • iPod Shuffle
  • iPod Touch (the last, 5G, is a candidate for updating iOS 7 and the only one that can run iOS 7 – see the full iOS 7 compatible Apple products list)
  • a Smart Cover for iPads and bumper for iPhone 4 and 4S
