This beautiful iPhone dock from Jarre Technologies AeroSystem One is the first product derived from the association between the French musician Jean-Michel Jarre and an audio industrial actor. It strikes at first by the design adopted with this glass cylinder which displays ambitions regarding the premium sound dock for iphone aimed towards “audiophiles” . its co-creator, Jean -Michel Jarre, has calibrated the audio rendition of the AeroSystem One himself, in order to offer the glass and metal column the best audio performances a product should offer to be able to wear its name.

At first glance you should love the Aerosystem One. This cylindrical glass column with transparency reveals its carved frame and three perforated metal blocks is quite unique. At iPhonology.com when we unpacked the AeroSystem One out of its box, we were struck by the weight of this iphone dock approaching 15 kg ! This is definitely a record for an iPhone audio dock. But it is certainly a right testimony of the quality of the dock. Moreover, the built quality is really perfect showing a high attention given to details and the materials used for that combines metal and glass with a chrome finish really inspire confidence. Clearly , in addition to willing to be one of the best iPhone / iPod dock on the market from an audio point of view, the AeroSystem One is undoubtedly a gorgeous object that will make the pride of its owners in many homes.
“flat design” remote control
We also loved the “flat avant-garde design” of the Aerosystem One’s remote control, completely minimalist, inserted in a small translucent pad. In the center, we find the main controls to playback from your iPhone or iPod. We can quickly enhance low tones (and get the subwoofer 60W pushing out its loudness tones) with the same “bass” button of the remote control. When you do so, the base of the AeroSystem One serves as a sounding board and literally radiate bass levels on the floor of the room in which you use it. Effective and very impressive !
Connectivity : too flat…
The AeroSystem One is perfectly designed to plug)in an iPhone with the appropriate base (old Apple 30-pin connector – till the iPhone 4S included), if you want to use it with another iDevice, you will have to connect a USB cable or jack of 3.5 mm and certainly drop your MP3 player alongside this great glass tower .
Connectivity speaking, we would have liked Jarre Technologies to gift the AeroSystem One with the latest lightning port for our iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, since the dock is currently designed only for the almost antique 30 pin port. To connect another device, the AeroSystem One features a USB 2.0 port and a 3.5mm jack , but it totally ignores wireless connectivity, whether it is Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi or AirPlay . Too bad …
Test Aerosystem One : a gift to your ears
The technological point of view of Jean-Michel Jarre regarding the AeroSystem One , and future products assumes the death of the good old stereo as we know it. With this type of dock and audio system, Jean- Michel Jarre has understood that the music we not be listened to in stereo anymore, but rather with a larger some spatial spectrum sound and that is why the two sets of speakers of 30W each were placed on a 120° angle appart from each other so that the sound of the AeroSystem One covers 240°. That makes the dock perfect to be placed in the corner of your living room, while irradiating sound for the entire space.
The sound that you get out of the AeroSystem One is GREAT. For starters, it is extremely powerful and can be used with no problem in a huge space for a reception. But power is not everything, and that we also enjoyed with the Aerosystem One with our iPhone for something increasingly rare, which is the clarity and relative “cleanliness” of its sound .” A bit like WaterFall Audio speakers (made out of glass), the AeroSystem One takes advantage of the glass cylinder to get an acoustic rendering, frankly successful. This is the kind of audio dock that will allow you to rediscover your music library.
The AeroSystem One bass reflex can be completely insanely powerful and dynamic ! We can even enhance them further up them using the “bass” button on the remote control then and the dock fully exploits the efficient 60W subwoofer hidden in the base of the Aerosystem One which irradiates the sound on the floor. A blast !
We tested a large number of iPhone / iPod docks often with lots of unfulfilled promises about the sound quality, promises that you do not often actually get when and may often be too dependent on the configuration of the room. The AeroSystem One of Jarre Technologies is certainly one of the very few iPhone / iPod dock that allowed us to get parties in a large space, with a powerful sound, huge bass, yet, pretty clean and not too distorted.
Aerosystem One Review : the most expensive, beautiful, best sounding iPhone dock
To conclude this quick AeroSystem One review, you’ll understand that it’s a full house for the first product of the collaboration between Jean-Michel Jarre and audio industry. The promises of the product are there and more unparalleled design will be a nice addition to any kind of interior.
The Aerosystem One outstanding audio quality makes up for its lack of wireless connectivity. It is a premium product and is nowhere cheap. It ranks among the most expensive iPhone docks on the market, but that is fully adequate with what it has to offer to your ears and your eyes. It will compete with Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 8 dock.
And if you want event more premium, Jarre Technologies made a Lalique branded designed crystal-prestige revisited Aerosystem One ( called the “Aerosystem One by Lalique” ) which even enhance the acoustic qualities ab it further thanks to the crystal qualities, but the price tag expands all happily exceeds $10,000. But we must admit that the dock version of Lalique is sublime.
