This summer, ProCamera 8 is coming in a fully new version that brings a whole load of new features starting with new photo retouching and editing features. Even before, ProCamera for iPhone is probably among the most comprehensive featurefull photography app for iOS, but with these features added, I think that ProCamera 8 could beat the entire competition.
That is what’s new in ProCamera 8 iOS version 6.3 :
Just like you do it in Photoshop or Lightroom, you may now edit your images tone curves directly from your iPhone with ProCamera 8. So, you may tweak the contrast, the highlights or the darkest tones of your images just acting on the ton curve. Of course, this kind of photo editing feature is not for everyone and you have to be used to it. For the most advanced photographers and users, ProCamera 8 offers an expert mode that splits the tone curve into color layers curves. That means that you can also act directly on each colored red blue or green layer of your image and get advanced color correction done.
Solar Wind and Magnetic Storm
These are two new ways of improving your images on ProCamera 8. The developers didn’t say much about the adjustment recipe of these filters but obviously it is adding vibrancy to the images, it also seems to enhance the contrast and sharpness of the image. These two adjustments look like magical without tools that really can offer you an immediate improvement of your photos. These are things that you should experience.
It is more like a dehaze function that enhances the contrast of your images getting rid of the mist that can appear sometimes on images by the sea or when it’s getting very warm outside.
This new feature of ProCamera 8 lets you add a kind of analog camera look to your images. The editor advise to try converting the images in black and white first before adding it for a total retro look. Nice recipe that definitely has to be tried if you are into Black and White photography.
This new feature lets you explore the localization data embedded in the photo you took with your iPhone. In the first view, you can retrieve the location with its name, another one gives you the opportunity to display a map with a location on it and the third view compares where you took the photo with where you stand right now as you look at the image and give the directions to get back there. That’s interesting.
Improved HDR photograph
Although the HDR photography mode of ProCamera 8 will give the exact same results as before, the workflow has been changed and you can now activate an auto save function that is going to automatically save each HDR photo that you trigger on your iPhone’s camera roll. Even when you forget to save the HDR image that you took with ProCamera 8, as it’s often the case when I use other HDR photography software like HDR Pro or Hydra which require that you manually use each photo after you caught the result you wanted.
Apple Watch and ProCamera 8
The integration of ProCamera 8 on the Apple Watch gets a bit further with this new update and now you can remotely control ProCamera 8 on your iPhone through your Apple Watch also when taking HDR photos and night shoots. With Force Touch, you can, directly from your wrist with the Apple Watch, switch between the photo modes of ProCamera 8: photo, HDR, nightshot.
ProCamera 8 and iOS 8 widget
Here it comes! ProCamera 8 app for iPhone in version 6.3 has a widget. Once you will have activated it, you will be able to launch ProCamera 8 on your iPhone directly from the lockscreen’s today view of the notification center. You can even directly reach the required photo mode among photo, video, HDR, night shoot or QR Code reader. Very convenient.
Improved auto focus system
ProCamera 8 gets a refined auto focus algorithm which, as promised by the developers, brings faster and more accurate focusing.
As you see, this update brings a whole load of new features and enhancements to this nice iPhonography application that really helps you getting the most out of your iPhone’s camera.
