You were certainly waiting for something to get the latest Porsche 911 in your garage. This thing is now on: Porsche has been added by Apple on its list of CarPlay supporting brands. This means that future Porsche will have CarPlay offered as an optional feature.
So now, you will find the exclusive Porsche Logo on CarPlay’s page on Apple’s website. The sports car manufacturer has been added since a few weeks actually to this page without any other form of advertising about this.
CarPlay is the promise made by Apple that you will be able to use as safely as possible your iPhone inside your Car. Previously named iOS in the car, Apple CarPlay lets you use Siri to access a wide variety of services that you could actually access through your iPhone: get Maps and directions, play music, place calls, and even send text messages. The magic with CarPlay is that it’s an efficient way to use Siri in your car and to use your iPhone while getting your attention fully on the road and your hands on your steering wheel, where they belong !
A lot of car manufacturers have now announced the support of Apple CarPlay’s technology. These brands include :
- and even the French Peugeot whose little 208 is now available with CarPlay
If you don’t plan to buy a new car and to pay for this extra feature which is almost and quite always charged at very high price, you can still use an aftermarket infotainment system like the ones sold by Alpine and Pioneer.
