The first rumors about the iPhone 7 appear on the web. It look like Apple could be working on a waterproof iPhone 7. But wait, wouldn’t be the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus waterproof? Well, according to this video that has been posted on YouTube, it looks like they actually are… till some extent.
Apple and the waterproof capabilities of its products, the situation has not been very clarified by Cupertino. On one side, you have Apple which doesn’t state that the Apple Watch is waterproof but on the other side, you have Tim Cook who asserts that he is taking his shower with his Apple Watch on his wrist. Nobody says that the Apple Watch can be taken under water until x meters for x minutes, but some folks actually swim with it and use the Apple Watch as their swimming session coach and monitor.
These tests which reliability still has to be proven shown in this video that the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus have been able to survive to one hour long into bowls of water. Even though they haven’t been immerged very deep, just a few inches under the water surface, yet, they are fully immersed under water. After this 1 hour bath, these iPhone 6S seem to work well and have survived this water torture-test. No shortcut, no water and electricity mess, nothing. That is very surprising but the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus could be a step towards waterproof iPhone with rugged cases and weather sealing.
Don’t try this at home of course. Even though this video is quite interesting, be aware that there is a humidity sensor in our iPhones and iPads and if Apple finds out that you have put your iPhone into water, then, the warranty is off and you are screwed.
