Businessweek had fun comparing the revenue generated by the iPhone to those of the leading companies on Wall Street. These fuigures compared together may be able to shut some analysts mouth for good…
The Apple iPhone is stronger than Coca-Cola
The figure released by the iPhone alone, puts the record straight as Apple’s smartphone generates alone more revenue than all of the following companies:
- Procter & Gamble
- Du Pont
- Mc Donald’s
- Home Depot
That puts into perspective some of the speeches we hear. We’ll see if the career of the iPhone 5C and and iPhone 5S will further boost sales and revenues for Apple, but the suspense is very poor in this area with an other impressive start of both iPhone 5S / 5C which of which 9 million units were sold during the first weekend alone. Among these 9 million new iPhone sold in the 3 forst days, the iPhone 5S represents more than three quarters of the total quantity.
Now the iPhone generated nearly $ 90 billion alone (88.4 billion exactly). Impressive ! But it still it remains behind:
- Verizon and AT & T
- General Electric
- Chevron and Exxon Mobil (which generate nearly $ 400 billion in revenues)
- Finally, the biggest of all Wall Street prides is Wallmart that flirts with 500 billion dollars.
